late again - sorry! Bonus postings in lieu of flogging

Xmas has been pretty hectic so I fell behind again. Sorry about that.

Darwyn is heading south for the winter (he's part Canada Goose) but he'll be sending along a few tidbits here and there.

Here's a couple of drawings he did at one of our Free Comic Book Day events:

Happy Christmas! Messy New Year!!

Sorry this is late - I try to update this blog each Friday but with the Christmas Craziness that is upon us, I didn't get a chance. My day (and night) job is running a comic book store and the holiday shopping rush has been keeping us very busy, which is a good thing! More folks buying Spirit books, the Retroactive art book, Batman Ego and other tails and of course, New Frontier!

So to make up for being late, here's a couple of pieces of Darwyn's stuff you may not have seen....

this was done for the National Post, a Canadian newspaper, a year or two ago. and here's something I found in a box of comics:

all the best for the holidays and I hope you give some of Darwyn books to your friends for Xmas!

Criterion Prints by Darwyn, Sienkiewicz, and more

We interrupt this post to bring you an announcement from Criterion:

Some of the Criterion Collection's most memorable cover art
will be on sale in limited-edition prints, signed by the artists,
exclusively at criterion.com.

Available editions include:

• *Jaime Hernandez's Divorce Italian Style* (22"x 4", $100)

• *Caitlin Kuhwald's Amarcord* (29" x 11",$125)

• *Bill Seinkiewicz's Robinson Crusoe on Mars*(22" x 16", $125)

• *Darwyn Cooke's Monsters and Madmen collection*:
a set of four prints from the covers of *The Atomic Submarine, Corridors of Blood,
First Man into Space, *and* The Haunted Strangler* (8" x 10" each, $125 for the set)

These first editions of one hundred prints were made with a
digital fine-art printing method known as giclée, and reproduced on
archival-quality acid-free paper with inks designed to last up to two
hundred years without losing any detail or vibrancy. And just as we get
filmmakers' stamps of approval for our DVD releases whenever possible,
for these prints we worked closely with each of the four artists to achieve the best
possible representation of their art.

Order now to ensure shipping in time for Christmas!

a quick flash

I'm not darwyn cooke

hi, folks,

if there is indeed anyone out there....

I was at Darwyn's place few weeks ago and asked "when are you going to start a blog?" He smiled and said "when you do it for me."

So here it is.

My name is Calum Johnston. I run Strange Adventures, a pair of spiffy comic book shops in eastern Canada. I also have been helping Darwyn sell his wonderful art book, retroactive. Look for ordering info elsewhere on this page or e-mail me for info.

I'm going to be posting some of the drawings and sketches I've swiped from Darwyn and will add any info about his upcoming works, too. Right now, he is at work on the Parker series of graphic novels, adapting the first couple of books by Donald E. Westlake (writing under the name of Richard Stark). They are wonderful stories, very hard-boiled adventures and I can't think of anyone better suited to bringing them to a new audience than Darwyn.

If you have any questions or comments for Darwyn, post them or email them and I will do my best to get them to him and hopefully bring back an answer or response.
